1.) Please tell us something about yourself and how you got into blogging.

My name is Ivan Ong and I come from sunny Singapore, a very small but highly developed country in Southeast Asia.

I started blogging when I first got into internet marketing in 2006. My blog was the first website I created after taking a beginner internet marketing course.

At the time, I didn’t know what the goal of the blog was, so I started putting in affiliate banners and blogging about my life. It’s almost like a joke to me now as I scroll back to my earliest post to read what I wrote.

But through all of these posts I have been able to see my own growth in this online business over the years. My blog was originally nothing more than the goal of becoming a full-fledged blog with over 100,000 page views per month and it inspired people that the internet lifestyle is not a myth, but it is actually possible because I live it myself!

2.) What is the main focus of your blog and why did you choose this niche?

The main focus of my blog now is essentially on delivering content and value in the paid traffic space for CPA affiliate marketing. I chose this niche because I was very good at driving paid traffic and monetizing it with CPA offers.

So I started blogging more about what I know and posting very valuable and good content on my blog. It’s all sharing strategies that worked for me, not some of Fly ‘Theory’ that I haven’t tested before.

3.) How are you currently monetizing your blog traffic?

I am currently placing affiliate banners and text links to promote affiliate products, but these are products that I have used and recommended myself.

I don’t like Google Adsense, but I think Adsense alternatives are a great option for bloggers looking to make more money from their audience.

I also offer a coaching program to train people in paid traffic for CPA offers, and I use my blog to collect leads that can be followed up by phone and email.

4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started blogging?

Wish I had known from the get-go that I was collecting leads / potential cell phone numbers. My sales conversion actually increased by more than 1000% because I started collecting cell phone numbers and letting my sales team call and speak to them on their cell phone.

This makes it very real to the prospect and after a few more calls most of them would actually sign up and buy my training program at a high ticket price.

5.) Which three blogs do you visit almost every day?

Definitely Bloggingtips.com! And two others that I visit regularly are Backlinko.com by Brian Dean and NichePursuits.com by Spencer Haws.

6.) Can you give us three recommended tools / services that you use for your blogging? (Search tools, keywords, content, social)

I use SEO Processor, Google Sitemap. In fact, I’ve outsourced 100% of my SEO work to an external company that takes care of optimizing my blog for me. I only write content!

7.) What advice would you have for someone just starting their first blog?

Very clearly focus on the niches you want to go into and focus on them until you reach a ton of loyal readers.

8.) What is the best advice or tip you have come across since starting blogging?

Content is king and you write all of the content yourself. I know a lot of people actually outsource their content, which makes the quality of the content inconsistent.

I make it a point to write all of the content myself because it’s my writing style that my readers want to and enjoy reading. As soon as you outsource your content to another writer, your readers will immediately know that it is not from you.

9.) If you only had $ 100 to start a new blog, how would you use it?

Get a hosting server, domain, and theme that suits your style. Making your blog unique is also a very important part of differentiating and differentiating it from all other blogs.

10.) How can readers of the blog get in touch with you?

You could actually go to my blog at www.Ivan-Ong.com and contact me using the contact form, or you could actually find me on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/ivanong0506

It is always good to make 1 friend more than 1 enemy! I love making new friends and connecting with people from all over the world.

The internet is just amazing how it actually connects the world and makes it appear so small and also because of this technology it opens up the world of opportunity and has created so many online billionaires and millionaires!

Thank you again Ivan for taking the time to share your advice and story with the Blogging Tips community. If you are interested in learning more about other bloggers and how they succeed online, be sure to check out our blogger interview series.
