If you have a blog, one of your goals is likely to be to maintain a better position on search engines like Google. You need to know one rule: Google doesn’t like blog posts with less than 300 words. That doesn’t mean they’re banned, but short posts don’t contain enough information for Google to understand and position them.
However, last year there was a major discovery in this area. Contrary to what many people believe, readers like to read long blog posts. Only if they are engaging, relevant and provide the information they need, of course. According to HubSpot, the most successful blog posts contain between 2,100 and 2,400 words from an SEO perspective.
No two blog posts are alike
If 2,400 words seem like a lot to you, don’t worry. Nobody said that all of your posts have to be that long. They discovered that 16 of the 50 best blog posts of 2019 contained fewer than 1,500 words!
